How it all started…

In mid-1970, two business acquaintances, Sir Gerald Glover and Ronald Knight, discovered a struggling freight forwarding, warehousing, and barging business near the River Thames in London. Despite having little knowledge of the transport industry, they saw potential in the company as a springboard into international trade and related services.

Trans Global Logistics Ltd began trading in November 1970. The international shipping landscape was undergoing significant changes due to containerization, which started impacting world trade in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The company navigated the National Dock Strike of July 1972, which marked the decline of bulk shipping and the rise of containerized transport. Trans Global Logistics Ltd, along with a competitor, pioneered one of the first LCL groupage services to Sydney.

As warehousing and barging on the River Thames declined, Trans Global Logistics Ltd sold off these assets and invested in acquiring freight forwarding companies, including Stephenson & Ephgrave Ltd in 1973. This acquisition introduced the company to airfreight activities through Stephenson & Ephgrave’s small airfreight forwarding department.

Over time, Trans Global Logistics Ltd continued to evolve and expand, solidifying its position in the logistics industry.
